A former UCLA Bruin was moved on Wednesday, with the Dallas Cowboys sending defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwu to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a third round draft pick.
Dallas has been heavily involved with UCLA defensive tackles over the past year, acquiring Kenny Clark from the Green Bay Packers in the Micah Parsons trade last year and signing former Los Angeles Charger Otito Ogbonnia on Tuesday.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementOdighizuwu had spent his first five seasons with the Cowboys after getting taken in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. In 84 career games with Dallas, Odighizuwu posted 216 tackles, 17 sacks, and forced two fumbles.
The Cowboys traded Odighizuwu despite signing him to a 4-year, $80 million deal last year. At the time, the extension made sense, but with the Cowboys adding Clark and Quinnen Williams in trades, Odighizuwu suddenly became expendable for Dallas.
Odighizuwu will likely take the place of 49ers starting tackle Kalia Davis, after Davis was not tendered a contract by San Francisco after starting 17 games this past season for the 49ers.
Angel Torres of Cowboys Wire has more on the move.

With Quinnen Williams' acquisition during last season, the Cowboys had three tackles all scheduled to count over $20 million against their cap this season. Dallas had already restructured Kenny Clark's bonus to create $8.8 million of space.”
